Carpet Fitting Cost in Kent

A carpet price per square metre is only part of the cost of a finished room. I’m Neil at NCR Flooring, and this guide shows how carpet, underlay, fitting and the smaller extras add up.

These illustrative examples use our online guide rates, including VAT, checked 15 September 2026. They are not fixed quotes or customer invoices. I’ll confirm the carpet cuts, floor condition, availability and final price after measuring.

Browse carpet colours — no measurements needed — or arrange a free home measure with samples.

Choosing a carpet for your budget

Browse the carpet colours and choose a range you like, then ask me for a quote, availability or samples. For an indicative fitted total, use the estimator with your room sizes. Underlay, fitting and any extras are listed separately in your quote.

The carpet you buy can cover more than the room’s floor area. Roll widths, trimming, joins and pile direction affect the cut plan. That is why multiplying a room’s area by the carpet price will not always give the full material cost.

Bedroom example: 4 × 3 metres — about £345

A 12 m² rectangular bedroom using Treasure Twist Super, Regent 10mm underlay, new grippers and one door bar:

• Carpet: £139.68, allowing 12.4 m² of material

• Underlay: £42.93

• Fitting: £86.10

• Grippers and one door bar: £39.97

• Small-job allowance: £35.88

Illustrative calculator total: £344.56 including VAT. This assumes an empty room and a suitable floor, with no uplift or repairs. The final cut plan is checked at the measure.

Lounge example: 5 × 4 metres — about £702

A 20 m² rectangular lounge using Fascination carpet, Carpenter Hi Lux 11mm underlay, new grippers and two door bars:

• Carpet: £365.72, allowing 20.4 m² of material

• Underlay: £92.05

• Fitting: £143.50

• Grippers and two door bars: £64.57

• Small-job allowance: £35.88

Illustrative calculator total: £701.71 including VAT. The same empty-room and suitable-floor assumptions apply. Displayed components may differ by a penny because of rounding.

What about stairs and a landing?

Stairs need their own measured quote. The number of steps, turns, winding treads and landing shape all matter. A 13-step staircase is not the same job as a 13 m² bedroom.

Our calculator adds £14.35 per stair on top of its area-based fitting charge. For 13 stairs, that extra stair allowance is £186.55 — not the total price to carpet the stairs. Carpet, underlay, landing, grippers and any other work still need to be included. Send a photo of the full staircase and landing and I can arrange a measure.

What can change the final price?

Old-flooring uplift, furniture moving, floor repairs or preparation, extra door bars and unusual room shapes can all add to the job. Existing underlay and grippers can only be reused if suitable. Our guide also includes a small-job allowance where applicable; it is already included in both examples above.

Tell me what needs doing before fitting day and I’ll include it in the quote. If the floor needs attention first, see our floor preparation and uplift service.

Local carpet supply and fitting, with samples brought to you

I cover homes across the Isle of Sheppey, Sittingbourne and Swale, and Medway. One recent job was a five-bedroom house in Sittingbourne, with Cormar Primo Naturals Pecan fitted in the bedrooms, stairs, landing and downstairs. Watch the finished NCR job. It is an example of our work, not one of the priced examples above.

You can browse carpets first, build a fitted guide estimate, or book a free measure. Send your postcode, rough room sizes and photos if you have them. I’ll help you choose a carpet for the room and budget, then confirm the full supply-and-fitting price.
